Hui Paoakalani is Utah's FIRST Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe Club. We are affiliated with the Ka Lama Mohala Foundation. Our paddle season generally runs March - September (weather permitting). SATURDAY - JULY 26, 2014: NO PADDLE
The Hui will be working on the Kailana Kaleo next Saturday, July 26, 2014. For those who have been following the progress of converting the Kaleo from a strictly paddling outrigger canoe to a sailing and paddling outrigger canoe, we will be working on the Kaleo on Saturday from 7:00 am to sometime after lunch. The Kaleo is currently in Centerville at Darren and Tammy Medeiros home and the Hui will meet there to do some fiberglass and resin work on the main ama and secondary ama in addition to putting some finishing touches to the hull. We are looking forward to sailing Kaleo in the next few weeks. Stay tuned and watch our blog for pictures and news on Kaleo. To those of you who were wanting to paddle this coming week, we apologize for any inconveniences that we may have caused you, but promise that our paddling experience will be more exciting once Kaleo is back on the Great Salt Lake. We are planning to have a pot luck after pau hana.
