KAILANA KALEO: New Sailing Outrigger Canoe on the Great Salt Lake

That's Right!! You heard it here first. Hui Paoakalani is re-outfitting Kailana Kaleo, our royal purple and yellow beauty, to turn her into a sailing outrigger canoe. We have begun work and purchased items to outfit Kaleo with (a)sail, (b)mast,(c)spur, (d) boom, (e)new double amas (outriggers) and (f)new "iakos". Our plan is to have Kaleo as a sailing canoe to teach our youth about sailing and their heritage as voyagers throughout the Pacific Ocean. Anyone interested in assisting the Hui with this project can contact us via email at huipaoakalani@gmail.com. We are looking forward to sailing to various parts of the Great Salt Lake. You never know where Kumu Butch will take us on the lake. Rumor is that Kumu Butch will be installing a "shaved ice" cup holder on seat number 6.
