Weekend Paddle

Aloha,

The Hui will be doing a "Pau Hana" Friday paddle again after work on Friday at the GSL Marina (5 pm til dusk). Please bring a favorite treat to share with everyone. On Saturday, the Hui will be on the lake "all-day" long beginning at 8:30 am for those wishing to paddle to Antelope Island - a 16 mile distance paddle. We will have 2 wa'a available, if needed? Please bring appropriate sunscreen and water, etc. For the general public, you may show up beginning at 10:00 am. Please bring your favorite "side dish" to share with everyone for a "Pot Luck" lunch. As a reminder, a $2 Marina fee is required. Hui membership forms can be down loaded from the blog (www.huipaoakalani.blogspot.com). Also, the Hui does have a limited amount of Duke Water Fest t-shirts still available - $15 ea.

Also, congratulations to the Kumu Butch and his brave crew for steering & navigating the Duke Paoa Kahanamoku wa'a to its first ever Antelope Island crossing this past Saturday. The entire paddle covered nearly 16.2 miles was accomplished in a little under 3 hours! GEEV'UM BRAHDAH!!
A Hui Hou!!

Naitonal Learn to Row Day...June 6, 2009

Fellow Hui Member Lisa Pflugh wanted to pass this information on to all Hui Members...
June 6th is National Learn to Row day. The Great Salt Lake Rowing club (GLSR) participates in this national event and offers a fun introduction to rowing.
The event is free and runs from 9:00am to 12:00pm and is at the Great Salt Lake Marina (about 10 minutes west of the airport). Rowing is another great way to appreciate the Great Salt Lake.
Can you spread the word that the rowing club would love to have paddlers drop by? It’s just another way of appreciating the Great Salt Lake and being on the water.

Pictures and Video

Pictures from the Water Fest have been uploaded to Shutterfly. A link to the Short Documentary on the Great Salt Lake which was shot and produced by Eric Bunch for the Larry H. Miller Megaplex Theatres is also available. Just look under "Hui Pictures and Video" and click on the appropriate link. Please note-you will need to have "quicktime" installed on your computer to view the video that Eric shot...if you don't have quicktime....you can always see it when you go to the movies at the Megaplex theatres!
