No Paddle on Saturday

The Hui will not be paddling the next two Saturday's beginning tomorrow 8/20 and 8/27. Mahalo. 

SATURDAY PADDLE AUGUST 13TH

Aloha Hui Members and Friends.  We will be paddling this Saturday, August 13th starting at 10 am.

FYI: 

Each year State Parks hosts Military Appreciation Day to honor our active serving military and our veterans.  This year it will be this Saturday, August 13 for the Great Salt Lake Marina.  Park entrance fee will be free for active military, veterans and their family members.

Harbor Master Dave Shearer and the GSL Marina will be hosting a barbecue at noon that will be free for all the above listed.  A small donation of $5.00 (donated to the GSL Emergency Response Team) will be appreciated from all others that would like to attend.

In lieu of the Hui’s regularly scheduled potluck, Hui Paoakalani board members have decided to support Harbor Master Dave at the BBQ for the GSL Emergency Response Team.

We invite each of you to also participate by making a donation at the BBQ or if preferred, bring your own lunch that day.

SATURDAY PADDLE - JULY 23, 2016

Aloha Hui Members and Friends,  We will be paddling again this Saturday, July 23, 2016 between 10 am to 2 pm.  Our Pot Luck luncheon will be Tacos and Guacamole so please bring something that matches the theme or whatever your favorite dish is because we eat everything.  Some of us have talked about a Friday Night paddle this week, but not all of our schedules were in sync.  We will try another Friday Night paddle before the season ends.

SATURDAY PADDLE: JULY 16, 2016

Aloha Hui Members and Friends,  Sorry for the lack of paddling during the past several weeks as I was in Hawaii visiting my mother who was in the hospital.  WE plan to paddle this Saturday, July 16, 2016 from 10 AM to 2 PM.  The weather forecasts calls for mostly sunny with a high of 96 degrees and wind SSW at 10 to 15 mph.  We do plan to have a pot luck luncheon so bring something to grill like hamburgers and hot dogs or bring a salad, chips, watermelon or cake.

SATURDAY PADDLE - JUNE 4, 2016

ALOHA HUI & FRIENDS;

We will be paddling this coming Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 10 am to 2 pm.  Weather conditions look favorable and if the forecasts are correct it should be plenty warm and sunny.  Please dress accordingly and bring your sunscreen, hats, sunglasses and plenty of water and Gatorade.  Also, we will have a Taco - Mexican theme for our potluck luncheon but feel free to bring whatever you want as we eat anything.  As some of us need to leave on-time for other Saturday evening commitments, please arrive close to 10 am if you really want to paddle.  If you have any questions, please call Ben at 801-721-7026.

HUI PAOAKALANI 2016 PADDLING SEASON - SATURDAY, MAY 28, 2016

Aloha Hui Paoakalani Members and Friends,

We  have had a late start to our paddling season because of availability issues with our Hui members.  Earlier this spring we have met and worked on the maintenance of our equipment and canoes.  However, we have not had time to launch any of the canoes due to uncertainties with the marina dredging, hurricane like wind conditions at the marina, bad weather and other family commitments.  However, we are launching one of our canoes this coming Memorial Day weekend, specifically, Saturday, May 28th.  Hopefully, this will allow us to start a regular paddling schedule in June and continue throughout the summer months.

Therefore, if you are available, please join Uncles Butch, Ben and Kwan Ki this Saturday to haul, rig and secure one of the canoes at 10 am on Saturday, May 28th.  We plan to have a potluck luncheon sometime around 1 pm.  Please bring some of your favorites.  We plan to barbecue some char siu pork ribs and anything else you want to bring.  If you have any questions, please call Ben Au at 801-721-7026.  Mahalo,  Ben
