SATURDAY PADDLE - JULY 14, 2018
Aloha Hui Members and Friends,
Just a reminder that the Hui Paoakalani 2018 Paddling Season is open and we will be paddling for the remainder of the summer on Saturdays. Our normal time for paddling is between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm. If the time changes, we will post it here on our blog. If inclement weather causes us to cancel or postpone our Saturday paddles, we will post it on our blog. You can check the weather forecasts for the Great Salt Lake Marina State Park on the website for the marina. High winds and thunderstorms are the most likely cause for cancelling the planned activities. Temperatures for this weekend are projected to be in the 97 to 100 degree range. The normal summer bugs (spiders & brine shrimp flies) are out but the paddling was great last weekend.
Our potluck menu theme for this weekend is "Tacos", so you can bring something to eat that fits the theme or you can bring your favorite salad or dessert. If you have any questions, please call or text Ben Au at 801-721-7026. Please remember that the marina has an entrance fee for each vehicle entering the marina which goes towards maintenance and services provided by the State of Utah.

2018 PADDLE SEASON OPENS - JULY 7, 2018
ALOHA HUI MEMBERS AND FRIENDS,
Welcome to our first Saturday Paddle day of the 2018 Hui Paoakalani Paddle Season. Last week we rigged and launched one of our outrigger canoes, the Melinda Lei Hanohano. We appreciate the patience of everyone associated with the Hui as we have had many delays to our paddling season due to family business, out of state travel, sickness in the family and other issues. Finally we are all here in Utah and were able to launch our wa'a.
Everyone is welcome to join us this Saturday, July 7, 2018 from 10 am to 2 pm. We will have our usual pot luck luncheon so make sure to bring something to share. We have not had a chance to plan a menu for this weekend. Also, this weekend will be hot with temperatures projected to be near 100 degrees and winds WSW at 5 - 10 mph. Of special note, the annual bug fest at the GSL Marina has arrived early so make sure to bring your bug spray or any other protection you may need.
If you have any questions, please call Ben Au at 801-721-7026 or email me at Au.OhanaLLC@gmail.com.

Ben Au
