Great Salt Lake Audubon and HawkWatch International are showing a work-in-progress screening of Evaporating Shorelines, a documentary about the Great Salt Lake. We would like you to join us to provide input on this documentary. Admission is free. Come early and stay late. Networking and Q&A before and after the screening. Please tell anyone else you think might be interested.

Great Salt Lake Minerals Corporation received a permit from the Utah Department of Natural Resources to expand their industrial operations. 91,000 acres of shorelines, wetlands, and water on the Great Salt Lake are in jeopardy.

Fifteen non-profit organizations have joined together to form Keep The Lake Great to protect these 91,000 acres. This coalition is appealing to the Army Corps of Engineers to stop this project. This documentary, Evaporating Shorelines, includes commentary from government officials, scientists, attorneys, and residents of Utah, about the value of the lake from the scientific viewpoint to the aesthetics of the lake to recreational usage. The film includes footage of the amazing birds, plants, and animals that are crucial to this ecosystem.

Polynesian Cultural Center CASTING CALL DATE: February 13 or 14 CASTING TIME: 10:00am-6:00pm LOCATION: Jeff Johnson Casting 2150 South Main St Suite 102, SLC UT 84115   DATE: February 24 and 25 VIDEO SHOOT MORE:   Hi I am a casting director looking for Hawaiians who live in Utah. this is the info I am sending to people, If you could pass this around to people you know I would really appreciate it. I am looking for Hawaiian Families that live in Utah. This project is for the Polynesian cultural center its being shot in Utah. There are no lines Pay is $150.00 per day and they need to be available to  work on Feb 24 and 25. This is a period piece so they will be wearing traditional Hawaiian Clothing. I need all ages Male and Female 5yrs old to 70 yrs old.  If you are or you know someone  who is Hawaiian or looks Hawaiian please send this to them or  have them come to my office between 10 am and 6pm Monday Feb 13, 2012 or Tuesday Feb  14, 2012.  We will take 3 quick pictures, and then send them on to the director. We have a documentary about the ecosystem of the Great Salt Lake that we need to show to as many people as we can by January 15, 2012.

 

Our first work-in-progress private screening will be held at Salt Lake Community College, Miller Campus:

 

December 1, 2011

6pm – 10pm, Screening will begin at 7pm, Mingling from 6-7pm, Set-up time: 5:30pm, questions and comments after the screening.
