Hui Paoakalani, Utah ’s
first Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe Club, is pleased to present the 5th Annual Duke
Paoa Kahanamoku Great Salt
Lake Water Fest. This unique aquatic event
will showcase Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe Sprint Racing (OC6) on the Great Salt
Lake in honor of Hawaii ’s
greatest ambassador of ALOHA and first Olympic gold medalist – Duke Paoa
Kahanamoku. Paddlers from Hui Paoakalani
as well as other paddlers will assist in celebrating Duke’s Legacy in this
demonstrational aquatic racing event. FREE Outrigger canoe rides will also be offered!!!!
The
festivities are Saturday, June 29, 2013, 11 am – 4 pm. The Duke Water Fest will take place on the shores
of the Great Salt Lake Marina South. Exit off I-80 at Saltair. A $2 State Park fee is required.
Hui Paoakalani is Utah's FIRST Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe Club. We are affiliated with the Ka Lama Mohala Foundation. Our paddle season generally runs March - September (weather permitting).
